Red Sea Sailfin Tang is a very popular tropical saltwater ornamental fish which is found in lagoon and seaward reefs to depths greater then 30 m. It has a disk shaped body with giant dorsal and anal fins that are equal to the size of its body. It has a sharp and extended snout.  Grows to a length of 40 cm. It is relatively peaceful and can live along with a wide variety of like minded tank mates. This tang is comparatively one of the hardiest of the surgeonfish and can be maintained comfortably in aquarium. The ideal water temperature for the fish is 22-26 °C , pH 8.1-8.4 and specific gravity 1.020-1.025. The diet consists of dried or frozen herbivore foods, marine algae, and vegetarian items such as, zucchini, broccoli, leaf lettuce, and dried seaweeds. Being voracious algae eaters, an aquarium with good algae growth will provide for their nutritional needs as well as making them excellent candidates for a reef environment.
