The fish of prosperity, Fengshui is a hybrid fish that is probably formed due to cross breeding various Cichlasoma species such as C. trimaculatus, C. festae, the Jingang Blood Parrot, and perhaps other species too. The fish grows to a length of around 40 cm.  It is an aggressive and territorial fish and only one fish in an aquarium can be maintained. The ideal water quality conditions are temperature 24-27 0C and pH 7.0-7.8. They are carnivorous and eat fish and other meaty items that fits well in their mouth. In aquarium, it should be fed 2-3 times with liver or other soft meaty items. They also accept commercial Luohan formulated diets. The beauty of the flower horn is assessed on the basis of bigger nuptial hump on the forehead, better colouration, bolder black marking on the body (which at times resembles Chinese characters), more elegant fins and wider body and may priced even more than a lakh of Rupees.  The fish may live for about 8-10 years..
