This variety of goldfish first appeared in 1990.The characteristic feature of the pearl-scale goldfish is its thick, domed shaped scales with pearl-like appearance. Body egg-shaped and body depth 2/3 of the total length. Dorsal fin single whereas other fins are double. Caudal fin  divided, forked and held above the horizontal. It can reach a length of about 20 cm.  The fish is sensitive to water quality and should be maintained in temperature range of  22-25 °C. Require soft water with pH around neutral. It is a good community fish with slow moving fishes like telescopic and bubble-eye goldfishes. Omnivore and feeds on both vegetable and meat products. Readily accepts artificial diets, bloodworms, brine shrimp, daphnia and vegetable foods like cucumber and lettuce. They are  found in all kinds of colours, such as red, blue, black, calico, chocolate and red/white combinations.
