This is one of most common reef fishes in the ornamental fish industry and can be recognized by its orange mouth and fins and alternate bands of black and white on the body. It grows to about 11 cm in length. Forms symbiotic assemblage with the seaanemone in the wild and sometime can also observed to sit over the seaanemone in aquarium. Hardier and less aggressive.  Omnivores and eat live food such as algae, plankton, molluscs, and crustacea however in aquarium they can survive on live food, fish flakes, and fish pellets.  They are initially male and the most dominant becomes female (protandrous hermaphrodites). They are successfully bred in captivity at several places.  The fish may survive up to 12 years of age in captivity.
