Koran fish is found in sea and comes under the category of marine angels. The juvenile fish is blue with a concentric pattern of white lines.  As the fish grow in size, the rear end portion of the tail develops white markings that resembles to the Persian alphabets and hence the Quran name given to this fish. It grows to a length of 400 mm. They are peaceful as juveniles; however, once mature they can be very territorial toward conspecifics and only one specimen should be housed in an aquarium. This fish requires a clean aquarium and the water should be partially changed regularly. A temperature of 22-26 °C, pH 8.1-8.4 and hardness of 8-12 dGH is ideal for the species. Omnivore and feed upon crustaceans, coral species, marine algae, sponges, and zooplankton and should be fed in aquarium on varied diets of live foods, fresh meat and sea-foods (shellfish), or suitably formulated flake foods. Egg scatterer but breeding  is not known. Life span 20 years
